Thanks Billy, I’m actually aware of all of this research. I think you and I agree on more points than you might think. My blog post was specifically about the innovation business function, which if done right can be collaborative, involve positive partnerships with local research institutions, lead to spin-offs in the local economy in many ways (local supplier relationships, new scholarships, local/social procurement programs etc). You’re pointing to the drawbacks of FDI and particularly the use of tax incentives to attract this investment, which is often a race to the bottom. I agree completely.
